Nitrogen Removal Services

One of the most common contaminants found in natural gas streams is nitrogen. This contaminant can result in a lower BTU value in gas and can even render it completely useless for most pipeline sales. Most pipelines will only accept natural gas for transport if the gas contains a very low nitrogen content. This amount typically ranges between 4% and 5%. This makes the removal of nitrogen from natural gas streams imperative.

Unfortunately, nitrogen can be difficult to remove. While a cryogenic nitrogen removal system can be effective, it is also quite complex and at even a modest scale, it can also be prohibitively expensive. Blue Sky Midstream is proud to offer a membrane-based nitrogen removal gas treating solution that is not only proven, but is also economical.

Nitrogen Removal Membrane Solution

Our membrane solution is capable of producing nitrogen-rich fuel and gas that is pipeline-acceptable from natural gas. The unique proprietary membranes we utilize are permeable to ethane, methane, and other hydrocarbons, while still allowing for the effective filtration of nitrogen. Sub-par gas is first compressed and then transferred through our cutting-edge membrane modules. The resulting permeate is then capable of meeting pipeline specifications and can be transported to the pipeline.

Our unique gas treating membrane solution offers a number of benefits:
  • Nitrogen-contaminated gas reduced to meet pipeline specifications
  • Ability to capture heavy hydrocarbons
  • No maintenance required
  • Low-cost, simple installation, membrane system can be installed in two days or less
  • Easy transport of system between locations
